Song of Songs 2:15-16 Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes. 16 My beloved is mine, and I am his. He feeds his flock among the lilies. (NKJV)
Frequently, couples find themselves engaging in quarrels over trivial matters, as verse 15 suggests that it is the little foxes that spoil the vine. Sometimes the devil places a thought into your mind causing you to worry about the future. The little foxes are at work, spoiling the vines in your heart. When this happens, you may start comparing your spouses with others. You begin to absorb all these thoughts which affect your emotions which lead to emotional strain in your relationships. That is why in verse 16, the bible tells us to live our lives knowing that the beloved (Jesus) is yours and you are His. Even in times of lack, problems, fears, and worries, we can find solace in the assurance that we are cherished by our beloved and we, in turn, belong to Him. Perhaps you may be in lack now. Verse 16 further emphasizes that the Lord feeds his flock among the lilies. This reminds us to rely on the Lord rather than depending solely on people to meet our needs.
